I love experimenting. It keeps me inspired by the possibility of unexpected colours, textures and beauty emerging, setting me free.
I was a curious and creative child growing up on the mid-north coast of New South Wales, surrounded by bushland alive with creatures, a close daily encounter with nature.
I first qualified as a signwriter, an exacting trade that taught me to be precise and to find balance. I learned about typography, mixing colours and hand lettering. I mastered painting techniques and developed knowledge of mediums and paints.
I wanted to learn more, to create more. In Newcastle I qualified as a graphic designer and for more than two decades I have designed for clients including art galleries, museums, hospitals and small businesses. I have worked with creative studios and advertising agencies. Throughout this time I studied printmaking at Newcastle Art School and attended courses at the Newcastle Printmakers Workshop and the National Art School in Sydney.
I still love designing, but over the past decade I have chosen to work less on a digital screen and more with my hands. I love the freedom and involvement of physical activity, being outdoors, watching the seasons change, observing nature and moving at a slower, more considered pace through my days.
My work has been included in various exhibitions including Studio Melt’s Annual Contemporary Jewellery Exhibition (in Newcastle and Paddington), Newcastle Art Space and Maitland Regional Art Gallery, who stock my contemporary paper jewellery. I have also been commissioned by High Tea With Mrs Woo, an Australian-made, slow fashion practice and design brand in Newcastle, and by Maitland Regional Art Gallery to make in-store paper installations.
My home studio is located in Maitland, NSW.

Nature is my inspiration, but I don’t take a romantic or sentimental view.
Nature can show us beauty, harmony and abundance as well as decay, disorder and decline, therefore I don’t look for perfection. My work is also about time. In nature we don’t see permanence but a dance of birth and decay that forms and transforms in an ever-evolving story.
I want my art to move lightly through the world, working with nature, averting harm and conserving resources.
As much as possible I use natural, artisan-made and ethically sourced materials in printmaking, painting, drawing, papermaking, installation and jewellery. I use natural dyes to colour textiles, use locally fallen and foraged native flora, and dye plants from my garden.
